About reaching the goal...

Hello Friends,

What an amazing journey this past year has been and the realization of the goal of writing 365 days of inspiration.  As with all things important, we learn through toiling, we must invest great discipline and incredible soul searching, to discover, how in the process of reaching for the goal, one's spirit is renewed.

Perhaps the greatest lesson realized, is being rejuvenated and feeling alive.  In learning to process the every day emotions, we discover a sense of joy and happiness that comes in trusting one's intuitive self.  We come to know with certainty, we never go it alone; rather, if we open our heart and mind we see with eye's wide open, others cheering us on, and believing with us.  Until my book in print (spring 2011)...always your friend.

About you raise me up...

Hello Friends,

I often think of the words in the song "you raise me up to walk on mountains, you raise me up through stormy seas", and how uplifting and inspirational are those very words.  As we live the moments of our life, it's important that we look for the relationships that empower and sustain us.  What I mean by that, is they are the fuel for our soul, and the hope along our journey.  Perhaps these words express it better; "I am strong when I am on your shoulders, you raise me up to more than I can be."

The message is very simple.  We must always find the internal strength within us to accomplish our goals, but the very fact that others support us, often is the enabler of all things possible because they believe with us. The most important thing that I have come to know with certainty, is the relationships of our life build us up; to spend time on those who do not, we waste our heart fires and exhaust our soul.  When we learn that those who love are all that we really need, we let go of others, and in the process, find our joy and happiness.  Until next time...

About Christmas...

Hello Friends,

Magically as if just a moment had just passed in our lives, Christmas is upon us once again. We pause, knowing that it is okay to stop and rest awhile as so many others in our work and life are doing that very thing. It’s a time of reflection, of joy and celebration. The decorated tree warms our heart, and we know with certainty, family and friends are the true presents of our life. No other gift can replace that very thing and while it is delightful to open a lovely wrapped gift, what's more important is opening our arms and embracing a hug.

It’s important this time of year to simply be grateful for all that our journey through life has given us.  We reflect and know that with the challenges of the past year have also come with unbelievable joys.  Those are what we must choose to always remember. As we think about the new year being but a few days away, it is not the planning of new year’s resolutions that is the impact on our life; rather it’s how we live and commit to our life daily, that is the true measure of who we have become. Until next time…

About I'm glad I didn't know...

Hello Friends,

There are many times along our journey through life when we wish we could know the ending to the story and intuitively go in the right direction and make decisions with certainty.  That is not our reality, or how we move through the events of our life, nor is it realistic to assume that will ever be the case. The truth is, life is a risk and more often, we need to find the moments of gratefulness and in the lyrics of the words "I’m glad I didn’t know"; meaning "how it all would end."

Perhaps the real truth is found in admitting we would not aspire to the goal if we knew the challenges or disappointments we would face.  It is truly in the struggle and in the overcoming, that we equip ourselves with future tools to manage. If the goals were easy to achieve, we would simply not aspire to reach them. We would miss the refinement of our character and the sheer joy that is experienced in reaching the milestone. Without knowing the ending and what lies ahead, we come to know, that overcoming, is what makes the journey worthwhile. Until next time…

About never a dull moment...

Hello Friends,

There are no dull moments along our journey through life, if we but see the positive in all situations.  That's not always easy to do, especially when the pressures seem to swallow us up, and threaten to wreck our attitude.  It is during these times we must continually readjust and climb towards the mountain top to reach our goals.

This quote by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross perhaps explains it best when she penned; "It is only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth, and we have no way of knowing when that time is up, that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had. "  How wonderful to embrace and believe in those very words, knowing with certainty, the gift of life, is ours to behold.  It's all in how we choose to see it, that matters most.  Until next time...

About not on my watch...

Hello Friends,

So many things along our journey through life require our undivided attention and ultimate commitment to their success.  Most recently a colleague of mine and I were discussing such an event and the conversation centered around the words "failure is not optional" and "not on my watch."  That is the very attitude we should aspire to reach each day as we work through our options.

We can choose every single day how we will approach the situations of our life.  Will we absolutely choose success, or will we give in and allow the moments to cause us to doubt the very fabric of our souls, and defeat us?  If our thoughts can constantly interweave that delicate balance, then we learn with certainly it is all about adjustment.  Find that key and you find your success.  Until next time...

About loving what you do...

Hello Friends,

How wonderful to wake up every single day and know with absolute certainty that you love what you do. The adventures of our life are the very moments that help us to understand that joy and happiness are realized when we embrace them all; good and bad, challenging or energizing.

We simply choose to overcome and see the goal in sight.  We decide that loving what we do, and doing it to the best of our ability, is what matters most.  On our journey through life, to have this gift present, is something to be truly grateful for.  It is the enabler that makes all things seem possible; you need only to believe.  Until next time...

About standing all alone...

Hello Friends,

Perhaps one of the most difficult of all things in our life is when we feel as though we are standing all alone.  I'm not sure it is really our reality, but in that time, we feel it is so.  We can't always figure out why we momentarily feel that way, or even why we feel, no one seems to understand that which we are facing.  Maybe it's because we close ourselves off, choosing rather to deal with what we are facing by ourselves.

What I have come to know with absolute certainty, it is in the very moments of deciding to trust others, to let them in, and simply admit we do not have all things figured out, that we realize we are not alone.   In the midst of our struggle and of our success,  we discover others are always with us; we but need to trust that very thing is so, and we are saved by their love and care.  Until next time...

About pushing yourself to the limit...

Hello Friends,

We all have days when the hours seem endless, the tasks requiring attention too many in volume, and we know with absolute certainty, we are pushed to the limit of our capability.  Our reserves are depleted and our emotions drained.  We momentarily pause, knowing that is truly within our power and control to find what it takes to just hang on a little while longer, and complete the tasks.

We know that failure is not optional, so we summon up the strength and the determination to finish.  While internal motivation is important, it is during this time, what we really need is ultimate commitment and true belief we will make it.  In the process of staying focused, we find the energy, and with a renewed sense of resolve we make it to the goal.  Until next time...

About the voyage of discovery...

Hello Friends,

Provust penned these words; "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes, but in having new eyes."  How amazing to reflect on those very words and their meaning.  We come to understand along our journey through life, that we do not always have to search for new things, rather we need to see what we have, with new eyes.

That alters the very fabric of our life when we internalize what it means to open our heart and mind to all that surrounds us.  What I mean by that, is we learn to find a sense of peacefulness and happiness right where we are instead of the need to go searching for something new.  In process of discovery we open our mind and enjoy the present life we live with happiness.  Until next time...

About snowflakes...

Hello Friends,

The beauty of the first snow fall is something that leaves one breathless at its beauty.  While we don't treasure the moments of driving through the snow, it is lovely to see it cover the ground and trees with purity and whiteness.  Perhaps what's most important is we take it in and allow the moments to bring us present and the reality that winter is upon us.

It is a time of change and adapting and maybe that's the real message.  With each season comes a time of reflecting that it seemed a mere few moments in time and a year has passed us by.  What's most important is that we make every single day count; that we don't wish for that which we do not have; rather we find in celebrating the seasons acceptance of the times of our life.  Until next time...

About counting the days...

Hello Friends,

How often on our journey through life do we see the end goal and count the very days until we we know for sure it is achieved.  We can hardly contain the excitement that is ours, yet the reality is, we must stay focused as there is work left to do.  Every mindful of the finish line, we convince ourself every single day we will make it.

What's most important is not losing sight of the achievement.  While others can motivate and are inspire us, it is the constant reminder that we must do the actual work ourselves, that keeps us focused.  Each step, no matter how painful or slow, moves us one step closer to the goal and counting the days till we get there.  Until next time...

About the quiet moments of reflection...

Hello Friends,

In the stillness of the day, and in the quiet moments of reflection, we think about the entire sense of gratefulness that is part of our life, and just how fortunate we are.  At times, it seems almost magical and surreal, as we reflect on those moments that simply bring us happiness.

We can never do this very thing too often; rather in finding time, we put all things into perspective.  It's all too easy to complain over things and to forget just how much is right and true for us in our present life.  In the process of our journey, we must stay grounded to that which we hold dear.  Until next time...

About the power within...

Hello Friends,

Every day along our journey through life, we must find the power within ourselves to reach our goals.  While we look to others to support us and unconditionally love us, our real success is truly enabled when we figure things out and what is needed.   Oliver Wendell Holmes penned these words so long ago;  "A mind once stretched with a new ideas will never go back to it's original dimension."

How amazing to know we possess such power within; to enable our scope of possibilities to reach out and embrace that potential and to go after the prize that awaits with our effort.  To even for a moment think this is not an incredible task, or one so worthy of the effort, would mean we truly didn't understand what it takes.  Finding the power within takes incredible focus and determination.   Until next time...

A picture postcard...

Hello Friends,

It seems that it may be a long lost art to receive a personalized picture postcard.  Perhaps the real importance lies in the fact someone took the time to write it; to pen the thoughts that were on their mind.  Maybe it's about the warmness that is felt in the moment of receiving it, that makes it so nice.

What I have come to know with certainty is that joy and happiness are intertwined and found in the simplest of things.  In the midst of our journey through life we find encouragement in words and inspiration in the message.  It is a reminder of how important it is to reach out to others.  Until next time...

About getting your life back...

Hello Friends,

Whether we ever set out to purposefully get our life back,  the reality may be, more that we discover, one day we have.  What I mean by that, is renewing our soul and regaining our perspective of what's most important to us.  Restoration comes about one step at a time and while some things come easy, others take much longer.

In the process of our journey through life, ultimately what is required, is allowing the healing to begin within.  To move past those things that once stopped us, to work through the emotions of pain, and then to ultimately come to know with certainty that every single moment led us to where we are right now; getting our life back and living that life with joy and happiness.  Until next time...

About pushing yourself to the limit...

Hello Friends,

When our reserves are depleted and our emotions drained, it is then we know we have truly pushed ourselves to the limit.  While failure is not optional, we are truly stretched to know how we will find the strength and determination to just try harder and make it to the goal.

Perhaps what's most important is momentarily stopping and finding a way to give our mind a break from the tasks that lie before us.  We know that motivation is not enough; rather rest is what is needed. We pause, then press on, ever mindful that the prize is found in the achievement of the goal.  It is the journey that takes us to the destination, but is the certainty that the arrival is but a mere step away, that keeps us going.  Until next time...

About pretty bows...

Hello Friends,

When all else fails, and the moments in life seem way too busy, stopping is all we have.  Perhaps what's needed most is to find the joy in something simple, and yet so elegant as a present wrapped with a pretty bow. Maybe that's because it has the power to bring one's mind to a relaxed stage, and there, we find a sense of peacefulness, if even for just a few moments.

It should be that easy, but often, it is difficult to achieve.  In the process of living our lives, we are absorbed in all that is expected from us, and just not enough hours in any given day to get things done.  We come to know with certainty, that while a pretty bow will not solve everything, it does come at a time we need it most.  In simplicity we find calmness; in calmness we find peace.  Until next time...

About the compass of our life...

Hello Friends,

The days pass by so quickly and the moments are ever changing.  The compass of our life guides us in the right direction we need to be heading.   It's difficult at times to comprehend just what this compass does for us, except to say, it keeps us on track.  At times we want to deviate from the course that is laid out before us and this is natural; in fact, it then we discover that life is all about the journey.

The destination, while important, and the compass while essential, is not nearly as important as the experiences along the way that define who we become in the process.  What I have come to know more than anything else in my life, is arriving at the destination does not matter, if I did not enjoy the journey.  The value placed on it seems to diminish when the end goal is all we see.  To find joy and happiness in the experience while moving towards the goal is really what matters most.  Until next time...

About being connected...

Hello Friends,

Being connected with others is the joy in our life that brings out the best in us.  It's the warmth and passion that is fueled, and sometimes, there are no words to explain the happiness it brings.  As my friend would say," it just is, no explanation is required."  In the midst of living our lives and being so busy we sometimes forget how incredibly important it is to spend time with others.

Reaching out to connect is the purest of pleasures that is enabled by engaging each other in conversation.   On the most difficult of days, or in the happiness of the moment, it is the heart and soul part of us that enables us to understand why it is we need this connection.  It is essential to feeling complete.  Until next time...

About being able...

Hello Friends,

Part of being able to accomplish a task, no matter how challenging or awesome, is believing that you can.  Momentarily we question our ability, especially if all things are not going according to plan.  We wonder if being able is something super human or if it's as simple as knowing we can achieve that which we desire.

I think it's made up of sheer belief, determination, and resolve; this is at the heart of being able. Without the combination of one enhancing the other, we find ourselves wondering how to achieve the goal that is before us.  In a moment of reflection we come to understand all three are required; therein we find the passion that is fueled in being able.  Until next time...

About discouragement...

Hello Friends,

There are some days we wake up and we simply feel a sense of discouragement we cannot explain.  It could be that we feel we just didn't live up to others expectations of us and that makes us sad; or as importantly, we didn't live up to our own expectations we had.  Either way, these are the moments that sometimes threaten to wreck our attitude and cause us momentarily to fall off our game.

It's important we pause, relax and admit when required that we don't have all the details firmly planted in our mind, yet we know with certainty, we feel a sense of despair that isn't easily explained.  It's important we try to understand the emotions of discouragement, and when all else fails, we remind ourselves to be forgiving of our spirit.  In the light of the morning and a new day we find renewal and a new attitude.  Until next time...

About sheer peacefulness...

Hello Friends,

The idea of sheer peacefulness is wonderful, but we don't often find ourselves describing how it is we feel, with those exact words. The moments of our journey through life are just like that, and while they do not come along every day, often, they are experienced when we least expect them.  Perhaps that's what makes them magical, and why it is we wrap our arms around the moment for what it does for our heart and soul.

What I have come to know with certainty, is we do not stop long enough and allow ourselves to feel this sense of peacefulness and the luxury of this very thing. Instead, there is so much to do that our days fly by with lightning speed, and hardly moments to breath.  We forget to just be present, and find the enjoyment that is ours to embrace, and allow that sense of peacefulness to overwhelm us. Until next time...

About a single ray of hope...

Hello Friends,

Sometimes along our journey through life, what is needed most, is a single ray of hope. What I mean by that, is looking for those heart and soul moments that help us make us make it through the times of being overwhelmed.  Perhaps what's special about it, is that it often comes along when we least expect it.

It energizes us and makes us a believer once again in the every day events of our life.  It could be that it comes in the forms of unexpected kindness in the form of words of encouragement.  More often, it is the genuineness of the ray itself, no matter how that appears to us, that is the measure of the hope it brings to our life.  Until next time...

About being in it to win...

Hello Friends,

The analogy of being in it to win is the constant measure of commitment to anyone thing. Whether we are focused personally or professionally, that attitude, is what sets us up for success. In the moments of wondering if it is worth the effort, we come to know with certainty that it is. What I mean by that, is we cannot own every one's part along our journey through life, but we can inspire them to their potential and empower them to win with us.

When you are in it to win, obstacles are still present. While at times, we may feel we are in a valley, we need only to look up and see that the mountain top is but a climb a way towards achieving our goals. Winning doesn't come at all costs, yet it is the desire to win, and the attitude to move all others in that direction, that matters most. We never go it alone; rather we find our success is found in being in it to win together. Until next time...

About seeing your spirit shine...

Hello Friends,

A colleague recently asked me, "how it is you renew your spirit?"  Momentarily, I paused, wondering just what the answer was to something I know so surely within myself.  I struggled to find the words of explanation.  I realized as much as anything it's a feeling, sometimes not explainable; rather you simply know you are different from the way you were before.  The way you see and embrace things in altered and you wake up every single day with a renewed sense of gratefulness and all that lies before you.  While tired, you press on, ever focused on the goals you aspire to achieve.

What I have come to know with certainty, is our journey through life changes us.  We can choose with every event to be defeated and overwhelmed, or we can choose to just get better with every experience.  In the process of living our lives, we learn to open our heart and mind and take a risk, and it is then we learn to develop the internal tools and resolve we need.  We simply decide that life can beat us up, or it can define us, and as we learn to forgive ourselves that we simply don't have it all figured out, we allow our spirit to be renewed.  Until next time...

About a perfect day...

Hello Friends,

How often along our journey through life do we ever get to describe a perfect day?  The lyrics in the song by that very name, are sung with these thoughts; "it's a perfect day, I'm glad I got to spend it with."  Perhaps as much as anything, it causes us to momentarily pause, and to reflect over a friend or colleague, who by their very presence in our life, allow us to feel that sense of joy. It's important we find these times in our life for how they renew us and bring us happiness.

How amazing to know with unwavering certainty, that they come along way too seldom, so we must find a way to treasure them.  Maybe it's because we find ourselves so busy we fail to take these very moments to just be present with them.  In this time of gratefulness, we come to understand something as simple as a perfect day, and what was right in front of us all along; ours to remember.  Until next time...
