I've never been an overly sentimental person in keeping things. I grew up with very little in terms of treasures so it was a natural instinct of mine to let go of anything I simply wasn't using any more. I do have one thing I've kept for many years now...a sterling silver locket I received from a lady who took a special interest in me during my teenage years. For some reason I thought of that today and remembered she was a very special person in my life.
Perhaps as much as anything it was the warmth of her smile when she saw me, or how she always made me feel important when I was around her. She gave me a place to feel at home. The locket is a wonderful memory of her. We all have very special people in our lives and they are the ones we cherish for the lasting impression they leave on us...I guess one would say 'it's just me, being sentimental'.
